CONVISO® SMART and CR+
The outstanding DUO
Following the great market success, KWS has developed new combination varieties that harness the advantages of both the CONVISO® SMART system and the CR+ varieties. The combination of the two important product segments helps to solve fundamental challenges in sugarbeet cultivation: CONVISO® SMART for improved weed control and CR+ technology as a strong response to Cercospora, an increasingly widespread leaf disease with yield losses of up to 50 percent. With the introduction of combination varieties, we are further expanding our innovation leadership in sugarbeet seed and strengthening our future growth in the sugarbeet segment: The new varieties are already available in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Romania, and Slovakia. Other markets are to follow in the years to come.
Research power in oilseed rape
New strength – N reduction
High and stable oilseed rape yields even with reduced nitrogen availability: Our research department at KWS is successfully pursuing this goal with the development of the N-ADAPT trait.
Thanks to breeding progress, N-ADAPT varieties like KWS SOKROS can deliver stable yields with
KWS’s oilseed rape breeding also sets standards in another area: With the resistance gene PBR1, we offer new, effective protection against clubroot, a disease in oilseed rape cultivation. Initial varieties such as KWS KREATOS combine the new resistance with proven genetics and show strong results according to trial data.

Same day delivery
On call: sugarbeet seed
If farmers in Germany realize in the middle of the sugarbeet sowing season that they have too little seed, they can now use the KWS “Same-Day Delivery” emergency service. Whether to their home, to the farm or straight to the field, sugarbeet seed is easy to reorder via a hotline and will be delivered by courier within a few hours – even at the weekend. Interested farmers can use a zip code search to check whether the service is available in their region.

Food Ingredients
From the seed to the chilled food section
Plant breeding meets product inno-vation: KWS and the startup The Plantly Butchers – better known under the vegan food brand Billie Green – are teaming up as development partners along the entire value chain, from the seed to the end product. The joint goal: to drive forward plant-based meat alternatives even further and help shape tomorrow’s nutrition. The focus is on the yellow pea, a protein-rich plant that can be cultivated locally and has lots of potential for sustainable food. Targeted breeding results in pea varieties that are perfectly tailored for use as an ingredient in food. This lays the foundation for innovations in the chilled food section: meat-like alternatives with improved texture and taste.
Resource efficiency
Hybrid rye with a big impact
In cooperation with the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover and other partners, KWS has developed a sustainable feeding concept for pigs, which can
and promote animal health. The basis is the use of hybrid rye, which is more resource-efficient than other cereals. The concept has been certified according to ISO 14064-2, which proves the reduction in emissions. In addition to more efficient production through implementing the concept, farmers can also benefit from the certification: with a verifiable contribution to climate protection and better marketing opportunities through transparency and trustworthiness.
Speaking of hybrid rye: In Canada, KWS and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) have joined forces for a special project to promote the yield potential of farmers as well as sustainability and nature conservation. The program offers financial incentives to farmers who cultivate more rye and other winter cereals – a win-win project, because in addition to the agricultural benefits, these crops provide an excellent nesting place for ducks.
